Dr. Monk grew up in Darien, Connecticut, earned his BS degree in biology at Colby College in Maine in 1966, and was awarded his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 1970. A resident of Anne Arundel County since graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Monk is a co-founder and managing veterinarian of Greater Annapolis Veterinary Hospital. Keenly interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine and administration, Dr. Monk loves being “a true general practitioner.”
The first president of the Anne Arundel County Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Monk enjoys continuing education and goes to as many meetings as possible. He currently belongs to the Maryland and American Veterinary Medical Associations, as well as the American Animal Hospital Association and the Greater Baltimore Veterinary Medical Association. He has been the veterinary advisor to the SPCA of Anne Arundel County and a member of the Anne Arundel County Animal Control Board.
Dr. Monk is married to his college sweetheart, Linda, and is an active resident of Sherwood Forest, where they raised two children. Whenever possible, he enjoys spending time with family, skiing, boating, crabbing, making local maple syrup, and tending his dozen or so beehives.
