Dr. Francesca Frere grew up in Ellicott City, Maryland. She attended The University of Tampa where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Mathematics and Chemistry. After graduating, Dr. Frere worked full-time at a veterinary hospital in Laurel, MD before attending veterinary school at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. There, Dr. Frere discovered her passion for pathology while working in a virology laboratory on campus where she studied Usutu and West Nile Virus, among others. After obtaining her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, Dr. Frere practiced in Baltimore, MD and Lebanon, NH before returning home to Maryland in 2025.

Her areas of interest include clinical pathology, internal medicine, and soft tissue surgery. She strongly believes in a fear-free approach to veterinary medicine and has maintained her Fear Free Certification since 2020.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Frere shares her life with her husband and two Australian Shepherds, Clark and Ollie. She enjoys hiking, bike riding, baking, and spending time with friends and family in her free time.
